How it works

A real interview rhythm, at your own pace

Four simple steps. Most people finish their first practice round in under ten minutes.

  1. 1

    Add your questions

Type them, paste a whole list, or start from editable sample sets for HR, behavioural, situational and campus interviews.

  2. 2

    Check camera and mic

See yourself, watch the microphone level move, and hear the interviewer’s voice before you begin.

  3. 3

    Answer the interviewer

Ananya greets you, asks each question aloud and waits while you answer. When you stop talking, she moves on to the next question.

  4. 4

    Review and go again

Watch your answers, rate them against a short checklist, flag the ones to rework, and retry only those.

HR interview questions

  1. Tell me about yourself.

Why they ask: A warm-up that shows how you summarise yourself and whether you can stay relevant to the role.

How to answer: Present, past, future: what you do now, one or two experiences that led here, and why this role is the next step. Keep personal details brief.

  2. Why do you want to join our company?

Why they ask: Whether you have researched the organisation and have reasons beyond the salary.

How to answer: Name something specific — a product, a team, the kind of work — and connect it to what you want to learn or contribute.

  3. Why are you looking for a change?

Why they ask: Your motivation, and whether problems in your current job might repeat here.

How to answer: Focus on what you are moving towards — scope, learning, domain — rather than criticising your current employer.

  4. What are your strengths?

Why they ask: Self-awareness and whether your strengths match the job.

How to answer: Pick two strengths relevant to the role and give a short real example for each.

Behavioural interview questions

  1. Tell me about a time you worked under a tight deadline.

Why they ask: Prioritisation and how you behave under pressure.

How to answer: Explain the deadline, how you decided what mattered most, what you dropped or delegated, and the outcome.

  2. Describe a situation where you disagreed with a colleague or manager.

Why they ask: Whether you can disagree professionally and still move work forward.

How to answer: Show that you listened, used facts, and reached a decision — even if it was not the one you proposed.

  3. Tell me about a mistake you made and how you handled it.

Why they ask: Ownership and learning.

How to answer: Pick a real but recoverable mistake, describe how you fixed it, and what you now do differently.

  4. Give an example of when you took initiative.

Why they ask: Whether you act without being asked.

How to answer: Describe the gap you noticed, what you did about it, and the measurable or visible effect.

Situational interview questions

  1. What would you do if you realised you could not meet a deadline?

Why they ask: Communication and accountability.

How to answer: Flag it early, explain the cause, offer options (reduced scope, extra help, new date) and agree on a plan.

  2. How would you handle a customer who is angry about a delay?

Why they ask: Empathy and problem-solving.

How to answer: Listen first, acknowledge the impact, explain what you can do and by when, then follow through.

  3. What would you do if your manager gave you instructions you thought were wrong?

Why they ask: Judgement and respectful challenge.

How to answer: Ask questions to understand the reasoning, share your concern with evidence, and respect the final decision unless it is unethical.

  4. If two senior people asked you for urgent work at the same time, what would you do?

Why they ask: Prioritisation and transparency.

How to answer: Clarify the actual deadlines and impact, tell both people about the conflict, and let the priority be decided openly.

Fresher and campus placement questions

  1. Walk me through your final-year project.

Why they ask: Understanding of your own work and ability to explain it.

How to answer: The problem, your role in the team, the approach you took, one challenge you solved, and the result.

  2. What did you learn during your internship?

Why they ask: Whether you can turn experience into learning.

How to answer: Name one technical or practical skill and one workplace lesson, each with a short example.

  3. Why did you choose your branch or field of study?

Why they ask: Motivation and self-awareness.

How to answer: Give an honest reason and connect it to what you enjoy about the work you are applying for.

  4. Which subject did you enjoy most, and why?

Why they ask: Interest and depth in a topic.

How to answer: Choose a subject related to the role if you genuinely enjoyed it, and mention something you did beyond the syllabus.

Why practise this way

Knowing the answer isn’t the same as saying it on camera

Many candidates freeze on video calls even when they know their material. Rehearsing out loud, with someone asking and a camera on you, makes the real thing feel ordinary.

  • Practise looking at the lens

Your camera view sits beside the interviewer, just like Zoom, Google Meet or Teams.

  • Rehearse the questions you dread

Notice period, salary expectations, a gap in your resume — practise until calm and factual.

  • Build a routine

Short, regular sessions beat one long cram the night before.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask before their first practice round.

Still wondering about something?Ask us →
Is Prepare Interviews really free?

Yes. Practising with your own questions, the virtual interviewer, recording and review are free. You sign up with Google or your email in about 30 seconds — no payment details.

Are my answers uploaded anywhere?

No. Your camera and microphone are used only in your browser. Recordings stay on your device until you download or delete them.

Does it score my answers?

Only if you ask it to. After an interview you can analyse your recorded answers: they are transcribed on your device and you get a practice score from what can be measured — the job's skills you mentioned, STAR structure, length, pace and filler words — plus points to work on. It never judges your face, voice or accent, and it is not a prediction of whether you will be hired.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. It works in modern browsers on Android phones, iPhones, laptops and desktops. Headphones help you hear the questions clearly.

Can I practise questions for a specific company or role?

Yes. Paste or type any questions you expect, such as ones from a job description or from friends who interviewed recently, and practise them in any order.

Ten minutes of practice today makes the real one easier.

Start with the 3-question warm-up, or bring your own questions. It’s free, and nothing leaves your device.
